h/t Gizmag.com, home to some of the coolest innovations on the planet. I’ve been watching the development of the Lifestraw for over a year now. An earlier article from Gizmag outlining it here. As I wrote about here, the wars of the future will be fought over water. We can and will expand the use increasingly capable energy sources like solar, hydrogen fuel cells, perhaps even nuclear again, but water is a finite and fungible resource. The makers of the Lifestraw may help increasingly desperate parts of the world like Africa, the Middle East and Asia help in their water desperation.
Just as the $100 laptop is on the horizon, so is the Lifestraw. One straw that purifies water, that lasts for one year, let’s get them out to the needy.
