The group often uses the Internet to raise money and attract recruits, the U.S. military says. Al-Qaeda's militants are ordered to film every attack they conduct on coalition or Iraqi forces, Bacon says. Music is often added to the edited package, for effect.
Our real drawback is that is takes so damn long to put out a product to counter their propoganda. But, things are slowly changing. Last month, I met a really sharp Army Captain from the Psychological Operations Command who is responsible for helping the Phillipines government and he said that the approval authority for their products like videos, pamphlets, and leaflets is now with the US Ambassador and country team. In the past, that stuff would've had to come back to DC and get lost in the Beltway. Now, if that Captain could get get "Desperate Housewives" to get a clue...
