Things will be light for the next couple of days due to some travel, meetings, and a contract. For the contract, I am helping develop some thoughts regarding what kinds of situational awareness issues are associated with tactical military vehicles and helping the crew members and their passengers how to get smarter around their outside environment. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please e-mail them in.
Otherwise, next week, I hope to begin hitting the “Tools for Troops” concept pretty hard. For background, please look here. The intent is to help a Marine infantry Company in their deployment (soon) to Iraq. I’d like the network so start submitting ideas on what kind of tools they should have to help local reconstruction and especially, what sort of “bench tools” would be good for providing niche sorts of support. This will be an ongoing project and if it works, may grow into something more established.
Finally, with all of the social networking ideas out there that have really taken off (myspace, facebook, second life, etc) does anyone have any thoughts on how we might turn those social networking capabilities into actionable support tools? Please post here. A few weeks ago, I met with some of the founders and driving forces behind the most excellent site smallwarsjournal.com and in many instances, they already have a network that’s doing much of what I have in mind but I hope to extend beyond where they are. Please, let us know your thoughts.
As always, if you are “lurking” feel free to sign up and help build this network.
